Can you tell us a bit about your 30-year journey in the beauty industry?

My passion and my path through life is Cosmetology. When I was a little girl, I put creams on the faces of my entire family. After graduating from high school, I decided to go to beauty school, and after 2 years, I qualified as a cosmetologist in Warsaw’s Podwale district in 1989.
I gained knowledge during practice in Warsaw in the early Piekna clinic, Thetapia Nowa, and soon my parents decided to open a small beauty salon for me near Warsaw in Nowy Dwór, where I was born and lived.

Despite taking numerous trainings, courses, and meetings with dermatologists, I always felt a lack of knowledge. So, I then graduated from a massage school in Warsaw, further polishing my skills in feet. I also studied at Dziewulska’s ARTIST MAKE-UP TELEVISION AND THEATER school and completed a make-up course and thus incorporated the acquired knowledge into my practice.

When I came to the UK, I started working in a beauty salon, but after two years, I decided to work for myself. I opened my own practice, and to this day, I work with passion, constantly taking courses to maintain a high standard of beauty treatments for my clients.

What inspired you to pursue a career in beauty, and how did you get started in this field?

Well, it all started when I was 16 or 17 and started going to a beauty salon to get rid of blackheads on my face. I liked the beautician who cleansed my skin. Her work inspired me to work in this profession and give the best of myself in this domain. I also wanted to help young people get rid of teenage acne. It was fascinating to me at that time. I already knew that after graduating, I would start studying at a beauty school and become a cosmetologist.

Were there any challenges you faced when starting, and how did you overcome them?

One of my numerous challenges at work was the division of responsibilities between work and home, between raising a child and work. But with the help of my family, I managed to reconcile everything.

What key milestones or achievements stand out in your career as a beautician?

I took many courses and training to expand my knowledge, but I was always most interested in working with facial skin, acne, skin lesions, discolourations, wrinkles, and skin laxity. It feels really proud to say that I’m the best at this, or in other words, that I’m an expert in recognizing problematic skin and giving the most precise beauty treatments.

How have you continued to evolve and stay relevant in an ever-changing industry?

First of all, it’s the passion that keeps you going. And, also cosmetic companies that provide immense support and practical knowledge that I use in practice. The constantly evolving cosmetics industry does not allow you to be bored. New products on the market allow you to bird with passion and explore your horizons.

In an industry known for trends and innovations, how do you handle the pressure to adapt and innovate?

My idea for keeping up with trends is to participate in seasonal pieces of training. I attend them several times a year, and it gives me a lot of practical knowledge on how to combine therapies to get 100% effect.

How do you stay informed about the latest beauty trends? How do you incorporate them into your work?

I have been working with the cosmetics companies Chanterelle and Arkana for years, where I keep up to date with new products on the market. I always prepare them in my office for the needs of my clients. Working with such top brands has unprecedentedly helped me to remain informed and well aware-of the latest beauty trends.

Looking ahead, what are your future plans and aspirations?

As you have noticed, I am 55 years old and have been working in my industry for a long time. I always go every mile to meet the expectations of my clients, so this week, I will be taking part in training on how to remove various scars on my face. I’m already excited. I also plan to expand my offer so that the client is satisfied and pleased to see the changes after the treatment.

What advice do you have for aspiring beauticians looking to establish their own businesses?

My advice to young beauticians who want to work long and efficiently is to love your job, do what you like, listen to your heart and, above all, listen to what your customers expect from you, then you will always find the right opportunities to develop your skills, meet customer requirements and at the same time earn your money with passion.
