- Can you share a bit about your journey and what inspired you to become an aesthetician?
After being made redundant from a thriving career in finance, I chose to view it as a new opportunity rather than a setback. I became one of Scotland’s first cryolipolysis technicians, which ignited my passion for aesthetics. Witnessing how these treatments boosted not only appearances but also confidence inspired me to delve deeper. Becoming an aesthetician felt like a natural progression, allowing me to empower others while enhancing their natural beauty. That passion eventually gave rise to Laura Haig Aesthetics, where I now have the privilege of training and mentoring others to achieve their own success in this industry.
- What were the key challenges you faced when starting out in the beauty and aesthetics industry?
Starting out, one of the biggest challenges was proving myself in an industry that was still evolving. Being one of Scotland’s first cryolipolysis technicians, and Scotland’s second non-medic injector, meant navigating uncharted territory, educating clients, and building trust. Financially, transitioning from a corporate salary to running my own business was a huge leap.
But the biggest challenge was overcoming self-doubt. Confidence isn’t just something we give to our clients, it’s something we have to build within ourselves. Pushing through those early obstacles made me more powerful, and now, I use that experience to empower others in their own journeys.

In an industry that’s always evolving, staying ahead is essential. I’m committed to ongoing growth by investing in advanced training, attending industry events, and networking with top professionals. But what truly keeps me ahead is listening, listening to my students, clients, and the ever-changing needs of the market. Education is the core of Laura Haig Aesthetics, and I firmly believe that to be the best, you must keep learning, adapting, and setting the standard for others to follow.
- Are there any particular techniques or treatments you specialize in or are most passionate about?
Absolutely! I’m passionate about results-driven, confidence-boosting treatments that enhance natural beauty. Advanced skin rejuvenation and non-surgical facelifts are my specialities, helping clients achieve glowing, youthful skin without looking ‘overdone.’ But beyond treatments, my true passion lies in education, training the next generation of aesthetics professionals to master techniques, build successful businesses, and create real impact in the industry. Empowering others is what drives me every single day.
- What do you think is the key to achieving natural-looking results in aesthetic treatments?
The key to natural-looking results lies in balance, precision, and embracing individuality. Every face is unique, so treatments should highlight someone’s natural beauty, not change who they are. It’s about working with their features, not against them. Often, less is more, those subtle enhancements usually lead to the most beautiful and lasting outcomes. Education plays a crucial part too. I make sure my students learn how to create facial harmony, not just follow techniques. The ultimate goal? Confidence that looks and feels completely authentic.
- Your training academy has received tremendous recognition. What is your teaching philosophy when training the next generation of aestheticians?
My teaching philosophy is simple: knowledge is power, but confidence is everything. At Laura Haig Aesthetics, we don’t just teach techniques, we instil self-belief, business acumen, and a success-driven mindset. I focus on hands-on, high-standard training that empowers students to be skilled, ethical, and confident practitioners. My goal isn’t just to create aestheticians; it’s to create industry leaders who set the bar high and never stop evolving.
